Applications List
This is a
list of the major applications we have added to ICE. It
is not guaranteed to be complete and up to date, but we
do try to make it so. You'll find some more useful than
others. It does not include the hundreds of apps and
utilities which are provided as standard on most Unix
systems, including games and administrative programs.
Under the Help
column, if man is indicated, it means
that the manual is available online. At ice's
command-prompt, type man filename to
view it. For example, to view emacs' manual, type man
emacs. These are also linked to our man-server
so that you may view the man pages via your web browser,
and print out directly from your computer. We'd always
recommend printing out (and reading!) the man pages for
any program you think you may seriously use.
If there are
no man pages or text help files available on our system,
we have provided a link to another web site which
provides documentation or help. In some cases, we could
find no suitable web site, and have no documentation
available on ice. Experimentation is your best bet :)
NB:
All of the links under the Help column
are external, but to reduce the download time of this
page we haven't bothered including the on every one.
